Take the penny test. Place a penny face down into several tread grooves across the tire. If you always see the top of President Lincoln’s head, your tire treads are shallow and worn and the tire should be replaced. If a portion of President Lincoln’s head is always covered by the tread, you have more than 2/32 of an inch of tread depth remaining.
